Spring steel is the name given to steels used in a wide variety of spring production. These steels are used especially in automotive and industrial suspension applications. Spring steels are generally low alloyed manganese, medium carbon steel or high carbon steel with very high yield strength. This allows parts made of spring steel to return to their original shape despite significant bending and torsion. High surface quality and clean internal structure (limiting the amount of non-metallic inclusions) are requested for springs exposed to fatigue loads.
